Unit & Membership Renewal
Unit & Membership Renewal
Unit renewal and individual membership renewal remain separate processes for the 2026–2027 renewal season. Renewing your unit confirms its leadership and continued operation. Renewing individual memberships keeps each youth and adult registered.
WCC unit renewal submissions are due December 10, 2026. Complete the online renewal, payment, and required council paperwork by this deadline to allow time for processing and approval.

Important Changes for 2026–2027
- Renewal is moving to February. Unit renewals are transitioning to February 2028. New-member proration begins in January 2027, and renewing-member proration begins in March 2027. The first common renewal for units and members will be February 2028.
- The lapse period is ending. October 2026 expirations have a two-month lapse period; November expirations have one month. December 2026 and later expirations have no lapse period.
- Renew before expiration. Beginning with December 2026 expirations, units and members must renew before expiration to remain registered. Expired members lose access to Scouting tools.
- Unit renewal does not renew individual memberships. Review member expiration dates throughout the year and communicate with families about who will process and pay for each renewal.
Renewing Your Unit
Unit renewal opens two months before expiration. For a unit expiring December 31, renewal becomes available November 1.
Before You Begin
- Identify the Unit Key 3 member or authorized delegate who will process the renewal.
- Review the roster and confirm that the correct leaders hold the required positions.
- Confirm current annual Safeguarding Youth Training, applicable position-specific training, and required PA clearances.
- Renew expired leaders in required positions and allow their registrations to post overnight.
- Prepare the Annual Charter Agreement and decide how the unit will pay its renewal fee.
Complete the Online Renewal
- Log in to my.Scouting.org and select the correct unit in Organization Manager > Unit Renewal.
- Review validation results and resolve blocking errors. Warnings do not prevent submission, but they do not waive training or other requirements.
- If leadership assignments need correction, the Chartered Organization Representative or authorized delegate can use Position Manager. Allow changes to post overnight before revalidating.
- Enter the name of the person processing the renewal, then select Next Step Unit Pin Review.
- Review the unit’s BeAScout pin and meeting information. Save changes, select Save Meeting Schedule, then Continue to Unit Renewal.
- Review the renewal term and fees, then complete payment. To pay at the Council Service Center, print and sign the renewal summary and submit it with payment.
- Submit the signed Annual Charter Agreement separately. The electronic renewal signature does not replace this agreement.
Annual Charter Agreement Submission
Annual Charter Agreements need to be sent to your Commissioner, District Executive or brought directly into the Council Service Center. This agreement must be in before we can approve your Renewal! Please give yourself time to get this completed. You can find the Agreement here
Unit Renewal Next Steps
Payment submission does not mean the renewal has posted. Unit payments may take up to four business days to be received, and unit-submitted renewals require council approval. Check the renewal status after submitting.

Renewing Individual Memberships
Begin your renewal preparations two months before each member’s expiration date. Families and units should agree on who will process and pay for the renewal.
Families may renew themselves, units may renew their members, or units may pay for selected members while other families renew themselves. Communicate clearly to avoid duplicate renewal orders.
Parents and Adults Renewing Online
Parent and adult self-renewal opens two months before expiration.
- Use the link in your renewal reminder, or log in to my.Scouting.org > My Applications > My Renewals.
- Select Start Renewal and review the positions being renewed.
- Sign the terms and review the checkout summary.
- Check the Scout Life selection. The subscription is selected by default; uncheck it if you do not want it.
- Confirm your billing information, select Place Order, then Complete Registration.
- Save your receipt.
For manual payment, print the fee summary and submit it with payment at the Council Service Center.
If your Scout does not appear, contact your District Executive for help checking the registration record and parent relationship.

Units Renewing Members
Begin your unit’s member-renewal work two months before each member expires.
- Go to Organization Manager > Roster.
- Review each member’s renewal eligibility and existing order status.
- Select eligible members and choose Renew.
- Review Scout Life selections, create the renewal order, and continue through payment.
- Check Membership Renewal Orders and Unit Paid Membership Renewal Batches to follow progress.
An early success message does not mean payment is complete. Continue through the full payment process and check the order status.
Opt out only members who are not continuing. Opt-out stops renewal reminders, and only the council can reverse an accidental opt-out.

Fees and Financial Assistance
Review the current WCC fee chart before collecting or submitting payment. National registration fees, council service fees, optional Scout Life subscriptions, and payment-processing charges are separate items. Units may also collect their own dues.
The Unit Renewal Guide includes a proposed national new-member proration schedule. Proposed rates remain subject to national approval. Council fees are additional.
Families needing assistance with the WCC service fee should review the Request for WCC Service Fee Assistance linked below.
